Emerging spiritual movements, by promising well-being, the resolution of life problems, and responsiveness to the needs of young people, continually appear in various forms and attract followers. One of these movements is the Law of Attraction, which claims that through focus, positive thinking, and gratitude, human beings can attain all their desires. According to this view, speech and emotions possess vibrations that directly influence life events, and gratitude is considered one of the central tools of this law. Since gratitude is also a Qur’anic teaching, some proponents of the Law of Attraction have sought to present it as compatible with the Qur’an by appealing to the religious beliefs of Muslim youth. However, this concept differs significantly from Qur’anic teachings in its foundations, issues, and methodology, and if not properly explained, it may lead to deviation rather than effectiveness. Employing library-based sources and an analytical–critical method, the present study examines gratitude in the Law of Attraction from the perspective of the Qur’an. First, the basic principles of gratitude and the Law of Attraction are outlined; then, the principles of Qur’anic gratitude are explicated, and finally, a comparison is made. The findings indicate that despite some similarities, there is a lack of compatibility between the gratitude advocated by the Law of Attraction and Qur’anic gratitude in many of their underlying foundations and outcomes.
